The old church was built at the beginning of the 15th century, on an old chapel from the Christian conquest. Of pointed and Mudejar style, it is a fortified building that originally combined religious and defensive functions, since it was a place of refuge when the population suffered an attack.
Inside you can see a 15th century tempera pictorial panel, representing San Antonio Abad, San Cosme and San Damián, executed by the master Perea’s workshop, and of great artistic value. It also houses the images of the Cristo del Sudor, patron saint of the municipality, the Holy Sepulcher or the Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of sailors.
The entire building, together with different works that are preserved inside, which represent San Antonio Abad, San Cosme and San Damián, attributed to a disciple of Juan Rexach, make up a precious and valuable cultural complex.
